Sobre vacuum forming

EMI/RFI Shielding: For electrical or electronic equipment that require housings with EMI and/or RFI shielding, it can be applied to required specifications in a secondary operation.

With plastic as thin as I was using, it was really easy to burn holes through the plastic if I heated up a spot for just a split second too long.

Costs Must Be Reduced! The dramatic savings that vacuum-formed parts represents makes the upgrade to thermoformed plastic from sheet metal one of the first consideration when it’s time to cost-down a product.

Vacuum forming offers several processing advantages over other forming processes. Low forming pressures are used thus enabling comparatively low cost tooling.

Even 80+ years on, vacuum forming is a continually developing technology and we are excited to be at the forefront of new research and capabilities.

Properties and Formability: How will the resin’s characteristics change after it has been thermoformed?

Machined Aluminum: A temperature-controlled mold machined from a block of aluminum is clearly the superior alternative for quality pressure forming.

Lightweight: Thermoformed plastic parts can be made from loll, density plastic with very thin walls to create a strong and durable, yet relatively lightweight part. Thermoformed plastic is considerably lighter—yet as stronger or even stronger—than molded fiberglass or sheet metal.

A variety of different trimming methods are used to trim the product from the sheet. The type of equipment best suited depends largely on the type of cut, size of the part, draw ratio, thickness of material and the production quantity required.

Machined aluminium molds are like cast aluminium, but are cut out of a solid block of aluminium using a CNC machine and a CAD program.

I used MDF because it gave me a nice smooth and level surface for the top, which is an advantage in vacuum forming. You can substitute other materials, such as 3/4" MDF or even a piece of melamine board. You do want to be careful about using painted or coated pieces, as the heat of the plastic may melt or burn these.

Vacuum forming is used for a wide range of manufacturing applications, ranging from small custom parts produced on desktop devices to large parts manufactured on automated industrial machinery.

At Formech we embrace 3D printing as a complementary process to vacuum forming for most design challenges. 3D printing Leia o relatório completo brings new possibilities for creativity and versatility in tool design with cost effective and easy replication when used in conjunction with vacuum forming. Most of the world’s leading design labs utilise both techniques back to back.
